This piece called Wild flowers was illustrated for an outdoor art show in The Meadows, Edinburgh. Wild flowers support a wide range of species from bees and butterflies, to birds and hedgehogs. However, due to development and changes in farming methods, wildflower meadows have drastically declined. The UK has lost 97% of its wild flower meadows since the 1930s.
This will be a continuing illustration project. By drawing wild flowers over time, I hope to learn about individual species, their cycles, and observe them outdoors. Then by sharing the illustrations online, enable others to learn and appreciate wild flower meadows too.
